Hazel Ealem Hansen
For our July Artist Series we have collaborated with Hazel Ealem/Hansen - a Noongar (Aboriginal) yorga (woman) living in Katanning Western Australia.
Art as always been a big part of her life as my mother Gabrielle Hansen was involved in many Aboriginal art exhibitions and art projects over two decades.
As a child Hazel listened to her mother and father telling them her and her six siblings Dreamtime stories of Noongar culture that they were told by there grandparents.
At the heart of our Lydia Williams collection Hazel has created a unique piece of aboriginal art.
GLOVEGLU ORIGINAL Georgina Barrow
September sees Georgina Barrow, a decorative painter with over 25 years experience joining us for our latest Artist Series.
She specialises in broken colour finishes and chinoiserie murals which give a stunning depth of colour and interest to walls, simply unattainable with plain paint. From a soft colour wash replicating an old Italian wall, to a copy of a vintage wallpaper, Georgina first prepares samples for her clients to bring their ideas to life, before creating the finishes onto walls, kitchen units, floors and ceilings, as well as furniture.
She has a wealth of experience and has worked on a number of listed buildings, assisting with the conservation and restoration of existing paint finishes.
With such a background the challenge to design a gloveglu label was a unique one for Georgina who embraced it by painting the design on her decorating table!

He was a member of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2016.
As Owain says;
"I have always had a passion for art, I used to draw and colour in my favourite goalkeeping gloves as a child, and then as I grew older I started more complexed pieces using different mediums. When I paint, it is an escape from the everyday demands of being a footballer. I am able to clear my mind and go in to my own world for a moment....often hours.Having moved away from home at the age of 16, art has kept me in touch with the culture and history of home, Dyffryn Nantlle,Wales.I gain inspiration from the generations of my family that worked in the hardship of the slate quarries, and their brotherhood bond that created a community. I am proud of my roots and of my Welsh identity and I hope my pride shows in my work."
