Goalkeeper gloves can often make the difference between a goal and a save. That's why it's so important to make sure you have clean goalkeeper gloves and you wash them reguarly. There;s a reason that you never see Premier League & Professional Goalkeepers walk on to the pitch with dirty goalkeeper gloves. This is because clean goalkeeper gloves perform better and have more grip than dirty goalkeeper gloves.

Benefits to Washing your GK Gloves

Remove dirt for added grip

Goalkeeper glove palms are made of a soft latex which has pores. Dirt can easily get into these pores during use. The result? The latex becomes much less effective and grippy, as the dirt hardens the goalkeeper glove palm.

Gloves last longer when washed reguarly

Sadly for goalkeepers, there is no such thing as a latex palm goalkeeper glove that lasts forever. Latex is a material that breaks down over time. But when dirt gets into the latex and dries, it causes cracks and tears in the latex palm. The only way to make gloves last longer is to keep them clean.

Look professional and feel confident

Would you ever see a goalkeeper walk onto the pitch in a World Cup Final with dirty gloves?

The truth is, having clean gloves is more than just looking good. It's also a matter of disclipline. We've talked to football scouts who say the same thing. If a keeper they are watching turns up with dirty gloves, it raises questions about their attitude, how they treat themselves off the pitch, their lack of preperation for games.

We always say that when you look after your gloves, they'll look after you. What we mean by that is, when your gloves are kept clean and grippy, they might just repay you with a piece of luck, like allowing you to keep hold of the ball even when your technique wasn't quite right
