Is gloveglu legal in Football (Soccer)?
The question that is asked most about gloveglu is whether using gloveglu grip sprays in professional matches is allowed, or is it considered cheating?
We can see why it's often asked. Putting 'glue' on goalkeeper gloves certainly sounds like cheating. But when you understand what gloveglu really is, you'll see why it's completely legal in football, and always will be.
In fact, in the IFAB and FIFA rulebook, there is no mention at all of goalkeeper gloves. So if you wanted to, you could even put superglue on them. But think about it. After one catch, you'd not be able to throw the ball and probably concede an indirect free kick for holding the ball for too long! And if you did manage to release the ball, your gloves would be completey wrecked.
How is gloveglu legal?
The purpose of glovelgu grip spray is not to act as an adhesive where the ball sticks to the gloves!
The purpose is to make the glove feel like new, or to make the goalkeeper glove feel like a $200 glove.
gloveglu restores gloves back to what they were like out of the packet.
Or if you put it on cheap goalkeeper gloves, it makes them feel like top of the range Uhlsport or Reusch glove in terms of the grip.
How gloveglu was developed
The gloveglu Founder, Paul, was lucky enough to work in the goalkeeper glove industry with players such as Pepe Reina, Hugo Lloris and Jussi Jaaskelainen.
This meant he could call on them to test gloveglu before it was released! The hardest part of developing gloveglu was finding the perfect concentration of grip. Not too grippy so that it affects throwing the ball, but grippy enough to make a significant improvement to handling the ball.
The result? Keepers tried gloveglu, and they loved it. It didn't turn them into a Prime Buffon in goal, nor did it mean they could hold on to 100mph shots into the top corner. But it gave them more confidence, meant they could keep their gloves for longer, and not worry about buying the most expensive gloves on the market.
gloveglu actually makes the game more fair!
Goalkeepers with glove sponsorships not only have access to the best gloves on the market, they can get a new pair for pretty much every single game. This means their grip is always on point.
Say a professional team gets drawn against an amateur team in the FA Cup. The non-professional goalkeeper can only afford £50 gloves, and they've used the same pair for over a year.
Is the huge difference in equipment between the two goalkeepers fair?
Not everyone can afford new gloves every game, or even more than once a season. Not everyone can or wants to spend over £80 on goalkeeper gloves.

Yes, you need to take care of your goalkeeper gloves and put some effort into washing them, and spend a small amount to do so. But the result is elite level grip on your goalkeeper gloves.
Will grip sprays ever be banned?
Very unlikely. We're happy to admit that gloveglu is not used a great deal at the top level of football, like the Premier League or Champions League.
Why? Because these keepers don't need it - They have the best gloves in the World, and a fresh pair for every game.
Keepers lower down the leagues need gloveglu to make the game more fair.
Even FIFA and IFAB can't argue with that!
